A paper by Aoi Matsuura, an alumna of our laboratory, has been published in Computer Software Vol. 43(2), the journal of the Japan Society for Software Science and Technology. The paper was selected as a recommended paper to Computer Software following her oral presentation at WISS 2024.
This study investigated a system that projects images onto a tabletop to provide explanations and directional instructions for real objects on the surface. By displaying a small humanoid character as a mid-air stereoscopic image, we aimed to improve the accuracy of directional cues. Evaluation experiments showed that the accuracy of direction recognition was significantly higher compared to flat projected images. These results suggest that mid-air stereoscopic displays are effective in environments where a large number of objects need to be indicated.
