The poster presentation “An Interface for Browsing Region-Based Digital Drawing Processes Using a Deformable Screen” by Ryoko Arai et al., given at the “Forum on Image-Based Arts and Science 2026” held on March 3, 2026, received the Excellence Award.
In this work, we developed a viewing system in which pressing a finger into a soft deformable screen showing an illustration rewinds the drawing process for that specific area alone. While timelapse videos documenting how digital illustrations are created are widely enjoyed, they make it difficult to focus on how a particular region was drawn. This system addresses that limitation through intuitive touch interaction, offering a richer and more engaging experience for illustration exhibitions.
